Panda Adoption Program

Panda adoption program serves as a platform for those who want to help Panda through adopting Panda at “China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Pandas (CCRCGP)” or “Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding”. Please note that the donation will directly go to one of the breeding centers; we do not receive any money from the donation;. We are very happy to answer your questions and help you contact the appropriate department of the Panda base.

Why Panda Adoption is an effective way to help?

The duty of the panda bases is far more than Panda breeding. They launched some programs that can help pandas in the wild in the long run, such as training pandas and releasing them back to the wild. Although they get regular allocation of funds from government sectors, they still need more support from other parties for their ambitious plans of helping Giant Pandas in the wild. Donation for panda adoption is one of the important channels for them to get funds from outside.

Types of Panda Base

1. China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP):
CCRCGP was established in 1980 to protect Giant Panda and their habitats. It is the largest Giant Panda research organization which includes three Panda bases: Wolong panda base, Dujiangyan panda base, Bifengxia Panda Base. The donation programs are available in the panda bases except Wolong panda base. Through constant efforts, the CCRCGP has achieved significant research in the understanding of giant pandas. They have been trying to overcome the three 'hurdles' for the giant pandas which are: hard to mate, hard to breed and hard to survive. The number of pandas in captivity in CCRCGP has grown significantly to about 180 now.

2. Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding
:
Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, shorten as Chengdu Panda Base, was established with the help of Chinese government and some NGOs in 1987. They work on Panda’s breeding, diseases prevention and cure, and Panda release training. Dujiangyan Panda Valley, affiliated to Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, is the training center for Panda. Both Dujiangyan Panda Valley and Chengdu Panda Base provide the adoption program. In Chengdu Panda Base, the number of Panda has grown from 6 to about 140 now, 11 new cubs were born this year. (by August 21st, 2015)
